Radar reflector
Ending in a jet turbine doesn’t make a good impression.
When launched in the atmosphere, the balloons must be seen by the air traffic controllers and by the planes.
As a transponder was not possible (weight restrictions), we chose together with the official authorities to add this radar reflector between the parachute and the capsule.
These reflectors are suited for a radar frequency of 5,7 GHz as well as 9,2 GHz and for a tracking up to 36 km high and 100 km slant distance.
